Background
LAW is an independent, non-profit organization comprised of human rights lawyers working in fragile and conflict affected areas in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. We have a particular focus on gender equality and sexual and gender-based violence, rule of law and accountability, and transformative justice, working to bring justice to those who need it most. LAW’s ground-breaking work has received international and local media coverage, and recognition.
Legal Action was set up in Beirut in 2018. The organisation provides legal assistance and representation to individuals in the governorates of Beirut, Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon, Akkar and the Bekaa.
Legal Action’s legal aid lawyers work closely with LAW Network’s international lawyers to develop innovative legal strategies designed to increase access to justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), the stateless, and other groups who have suffered human rights violations and abuses.
About the position
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Social Media Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in communications and content creation while contributing to meaningful work, bringing justice to those who need it most.
As a Social Media Intern, you will help expand our communications reach and impact: you will support LAW’s communications team managing social media accounts, creating engaging content, and growing our online community to showcase and amplify our work, as well as reach our clients, their communities and the broader public and advocate on behalf of individuals and communities who have suffered human rights violations and abuses.
Where? The position will be based at LAW’s Headquarters in Geneva Switzerland. You must have the legal right to work in Switzerland.
Duration? To qualify for this internship, applicants must be currently enrolled in a university programme. This position is funded for 6 months flexible hours to suit a student with their academic studies (credits) and gaining work experience.
Salary: 2500 CHF per month, pro-rated for working less than full-time (40 hours per week).
Role and Responsibilities
The Social Media Intern will work closely with the Communications Team. The postholder will perform duties in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and scheduling of content across various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Collaborate with the communications team to brainstorm and implement new social media strategies and campaigns.
- Develop social media calendar for program activities and events.
- Support in the creation, designing of innovative infographics, short videos, social media stories, etc.
- Analyse social media metrics and provide insights to improve engagement and reach.
- Research and identify trending topics and hashtags relevant to our organisation and work.
- Support influencer outreach and partnership efforts as needed.
Any other duties as specified by the Communications Team.
About you
- Right to work in Switzerland
- Studying towards a degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field;
- Previous internship, volunteering or work experience in NGO is preferred;
- Demonstrated experience engaging with social media platforms and familiarity with their best practices;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
- Creative mindset with attention to detail.
- Interest in human rights, law, or humanitarian work is required.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is required.
- Advanced knowledge of graphic design tools (Adobe Suite) is a preferred;
- Basic knowledge of video editing (e.g., iMovie, Canva video) is required.
- Passion for social media and staying updated with international newsExcellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain collaborative relationships with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, across several time zones.
