DESCRIPTION:Report Launch and Discussion \n“It Is Forever Stigma” \nThe Role of Gender Discrimination in the Syrian Government’s Detention and Torture System\nThis event will bring together a panel of experts to discuss the pioneering report on gender discrimination\, arbitrary detention and torture in Syria prepared by Legal Action Worldwide (LAW) and Syrian Centre for Legal Studies and Research (SCLSR)\, which will be published to mark the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. \nThe report explains the role of gender discrimination in the Syrian government’s detention and torture system by recreating the detention experience through the words of 69 former detainees. \nThe webinar will serve as an introductory look at the report\, its factual findings and legal analysis\, and what it contributes to our understanding of violations in the Syrian conflict. In addition\, panelists will discuss how reports of this kind can be used to better inform international justice processes and surface the gendered nature and impact of violations in the Syrian conflict. \nThis is an online event. English and Arabic translation will be available.
