Communications Coordinator (Geneva)

LAW is looking for a creative person driving impactful storytelling and strategic visibility for a global human rights organisation. From shaping media narratives and managing dynamic social media channels to curating digital campaigns and producing compelling content, you’ll amplify the voices of survivors and spotlight LAW’s work across 18 countries.

About LAW

Legal Action Worldwide is an independent non-profit association comprised of creative lawyers and jurists, united in our belief that those who have experienced human rights violations and international crimes should receive targeted, survivor-centred, gender-competent and trauma-informed support to access the justice they deserve. LAW’s team operates on the ground in conflict-affected contexts combining national and international expertise with a deep understanding of victim and survivor needs and wishes. We work directly with survivors and their communities, building their capacity to meaningfully engage with justice and advocacy processes. Alongside this, we provide technical assistance to strengthen justice institutions to ensure they are equipped to deliver the justice that survivors need, and work with legislators to promote accountability and the rule of law.

Across 18 countries, and in collaboration with survivors, their communities and national justice actors, LAW undertakes creative accountability strategies, including strategic litigation at national, regional and international levels. LAW’s vision “A world where all victims and survivors have access to justice, so that impunity is not a barrier to sustainable peace.

The role

As Communications Coordinator at LAW, you will be the creative force driving impactful storytelling and strategic visibility for a global human rights organisation. From shaping media narratives and managing dynamic social media channels to curating digital campaigns and producing compelling content, you’ll amplify the voices of survivors and spotlight LAW’s work across 18 countries. This role blends strategy with creativity, offering a unique opportunity to influence justice-driven communications at the intersection of law, advocacy, and human rights.

More about the position

Where? Geneva, Switzerland 

Duration: This is a full-time and permanent position. 

Salary: CHF 81,732 to CHF 90,804 per year (based on experience) plus benefits  

The post holder will perform duties in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below:    

Strategic Communications 

  • Design a communications strategy aligned with LAW’s mission and advocacy goals. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and strategic partners. 
  • Draft and coordinate articles, press releases, media interviews, and press conferences. 
  • Coordinate with field communication advisor to organise events, prepare content and align messaging across global programmes. 
  • Lead content planning for LAW’s annual and thematic reports. 
  • Coordinate with external consultants (graphic designers, videographers) for the preparation of specific communication products. 

Social Media  

  • Develop and execute a dynamic social media strategy to grow our audiences across Twitter, and LinkedIn. 
  • Develop LAW’s presence in Instagram, creating engaging and visually compelling social media content, including infographics, short videos, and human-interest stories. 
  • Manage LAW’s main Twitter account and support the Executive Director’s presence online. 

Digital Engagement 

  • Oversee LAW’s website, ensuring up-to-date, engaging, and accessible content. 
  • Manage LAW’s digital publications including a quarterly newsletter and board updates. 
  • Innovate with digital tools to elevate LAW’s storytelling and brand visibility. 
  • Monitor media coverage and digital engagement trends. 

Events & Campaigns 

  • Collaborate on the planning and communications of high-profile events and launches. 
  • Support advocacy and fundraising efforts with compelling content development and drafting articles.  

About you

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, human rights, communications, marketing, media relations, or journalism. 
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in communications, digital media, or social media strategy. 
  • Experience in journalism is preferred. 
  • A strong portfolio of impactful content across digital platforms. 
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe tools, and basic video editing. 
  • Demonstrated experience in photography. 
  • Track record of using digital marketing tools e.g. Mailchimp. 
  • Exceptional English spoken and writing skills; French is a preferred. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the law. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams. 
  • Strong and demonstrated interest for human rights and experience in international NGO preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical literacy
