The conflict in Sudan, which has featured, and continues to feature, brutal acts of violence against women and girls as a weapon of war, is a stark reminder of the work that remains to be done. Legal Action Worldwide and the Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa will bring together key experts to shed light on the crimes committed, and to explore creative avenues for justice and accountability for victims and survivors.
The panellists will share their experiences working with women on different ways to obtain justice and reparations. They will showcase the incredible work done by survivors’ groups in Sudan and in other contexts, showing for example the extraordinary, larger than life, ‘Body Mapping’ paintings created by South Sudanese survivors.
